SEO 101: Literally, what is SEO?
SEO, aka Search Engine Optimization, is a writer’s best friend. But if you don’t know what you are doing, it can feel like a frenemy. If you are a computer wiz and want to get into the nitty-gritty of SEO, there are tons of resources out there, including free courses that lead to SEO certification. (I’m not affiliated with them in any way. I just completed their course a few years ago, learned a lot, and I do NOT gatekeep resources that help writers). This article is geared towards writers who have no clue where to start with SEO and are desperate for some easy, step-by-step instructions that can lead to more views on their Medium articles.
In the spirit of accessibility, I am going to be skipping a lot of the technical jargon and will be writing the article that I wish I’d read when I first started learning about SEO. So, if learning new technology makes your brain feel like Jell-O, don’t worry! I’ve got your back :)
