I Love Words And Hopefully, This Will Help You As Well.
The names of some things.
This morning I was going through my phone watching dog and cat videos when I came across something someone posted to YouTube and I thought I would pass it along to my fellow writers. It was interesting to me. These are names of things you probably didn’t know. I was fascinated because I love words. Here are a few:
- The space between your eyebrows is called a glabella.
- The way it smells after it rains is called petricher.
- The plastic or metallic coating at the end of your shoelaces is called an aglet.
- When your stomach rumbles, that’s a wamble.
- The cry of a newborn baby is called a vagitus.
Do you see why I was so intrigued? I just can’t get enough. Shall we go on?
6. The prongs on a fork are called tines. (I knew this one.)
7. The sheen of light that you see when you close your eyes and press your hands on them is called phosphenes. (I do this to help me sleep.)
8. The tiny plastic thing placed in the middle of a pizza box is called a box tent.
9. The day after tomorrow is called overmorrow.
