I Miss the White Nuclear Family in Commercials

As a black man, I appreciate representation in media. But not at the expense of others. I think we’ve gone too far.

We no longer see white, heterosexual couples in commercials. Mixed-race or BIPOC duos are the norm, even when homosexuals are represented.

We talk about being demographically honest. Canada is 67% white, and there are more white heterosexual couples than any other combo. So why are they absent from our commercials?

Because many companies have bought into the diversity narrative.

Diversity can be celebrated. Canada has a rich mixture of different cultures, which gives it a blend of foods, music, and celebrations.

It also allows different cultures to meet and fall in love. An Indian woman with a white man was rare as ice in Hades. We see it now and other combinations: Asian and Black, Indian and Black, etc.

But more common is same with same. Races marry within their race most of the time. Pew Research did a study in 2013 that showed that, in America, only American Indians marry outside their race most of the time.
