That was Saturday evening. I realized that day that I have a problem with money. My card got declined at the grocery store. I was there with a cart full of food and groceries, and I was fumbling on my phone to transfer some dollars from my savings account. But that day it was nearly empty.

Me with my red face, mumbling apologies. I put back all the groceries in the store. Then I silently went out of the store without saying anything. At that time, I had a gnawing feeling in my stomach, and that had nothing to do with my hunger.

That Saturday night was kind of horrific for me. I was sitting on my second-hand couch and again eating that unhealthy ramen. But at that time, I knew that something had to change.

I was tired of the paycheck-to-paycheck cycle. I was stressed by thinking that I am one emergency away from total financial ruin.

That situation was a catalyst for me and for my transformation. This transformation didn’t take any kind of quantum physics like Tony Stark does in Avengers. It’s just two simple habits.

First habit: Keep track of every single penny you spend.
