I Stopped Drinking Alcohol and Coffee for 40 Days
Here’s what happened
The last time I treated myself to a drink was on May 5th, a day brimming with lively Cinco de Mayo celebrations. Naturally, I opted for delicious Margaritas, commemorating Mexican tradition and heritage.
As the afternoon rolled on, I completely lost count of how many Margaritas and tequila shots I had enjoyed. Unfortunately, the fun of that spirited day was outweighed by the hangover that hit me the next morning. It was the most atrocious I’ve had in years.
I’m never drinking again. This time, ‘never’ means never, not the usual excuse I used to say years ago.
It wasn’t the hellish hangover that led me to swear off intoxicating beverages. No, it was the alarming state of my health that truly frightened me. Weeks prior, my blood pressure was surging to dangerous heights, and I was anxious about the unsettling heart palpitations that got worse in the evenings.
I also had annoying headaches that were aggravated on days I heard negative news from family members. It was hard to sleep every night, and I was lucky if I had 4 hours of uninterrupted slumber.
My face had taken on a puffiness that made me feel unrecognizable; my jawline was gone! And the wrinkles on my forehead and neck seemed to deepen and…
