Dai Shihan Tadashi Yamashita (10th Dan) was born on February 7, 1942, in Naha, Okinawa.

He began studying martial arts at a young age and went on to train with some of the most renowned karate masters of his time, including Choshin Chibana, Seiko Higa, and Eizo Shimabukuro.

In 1960, Master Yamashita moved to the United States and began teaching karate. He went on to become one of the most influential martial arts instructors in the country and the world.

Yamashita is known for his expertise in various martial arts styles, including Shorin-ryu, Goju-Ryu, and Sitto-ryu, as well as the high weapon training of Ryu Kyu Kobudo. and (Nippon) Kaju-Kempo.

In addition to his renowned martial arts skills, Yamashita has also worked as an actor and stuntman. He appeared in several films, including “The Challenge” and “The Octagon,” performed stunts for movies like “Die Hard with a Vengeance” and “Lethal Weapon 4.” and has written books on martial arts, like “The Complete Shotokan” and “Yamashita’s Karate: The Complete Kata.”
