I Want

A Healing Poem

I want to hide
in the branches
of the maple tree
so that the cancer
cannot find me.
I want to run
so fast that
the cancer cells
don’t know where
I’ve gone and
they cannot follow.
I want to fly
so high that the angels
protect me in my battle
against the evil that
invaded my body.
I want to live in
the valley of lovers
and taste the pure
sweetness of your lips.
