My meditation sessions are always timed, usually between 15 to 20 minutes. As soon as the timer goes off, I take a 10-second pause and open my eyes. It feels good, and I go on with my day.

Something weird happened to me during my session this morning. I had timed it for 20 minutes.

After the timer went off, I didn’t open my eyes and stop the meditation. Instead, I kept going. I usually time my sessions on my smartwatch. It vibrates four times and then stops. So I don’t have to stop my timer manually.

I was aware of the vibrations but returned to my zone after the timer went off. I was in a deep state of focus. It was something that had never happened to me and felt amazing.

How my sessions usually go

My meditations are very simple. I sit quietly on the floor with my legs crossed and focus on breathing. Thoughts hit me, and I quickly lose focus on my breathing. Then, things happen by themselves. I don’t try to force anything.

Sometimes, I visualize my goals and try to focus on them. But they never go as planned because my thoughts are so random. As I said, I…
