I could be reading a piece (on Medium) when my ADHD brain gets a wiggly idea. Out of the wiggly idea tube, the skinny boy of six jiggles. He runs to the roof, mouth open — singing.

Oh-joy, joy, joy, he sings. I hear him. And story ideas gather force.

But I don’t jump to the keyboard without asking what the story wants (most of the time). Everyone in my image world is a character…
