Between 60–70% people surfing the internet are here for content that helps them learn something, as found in credible research by leading institutions.

Each one of us, irrespective of who we are and what we do, knows a little more about some topic(s) than the rest of the world. This knowledge could stem from your profession, a hobby or your own life experiences.

Every person you meet knows something you don’t

This makes you, me and every human being eligible to share that knowledge for more people to learn from.

There is a sizeable audience out there, connected to this huge wide internet through a 6-inch screen, eager to learn about the knowledge you offer.

Here’s the tiny, 3 step process that will help you create valuable articles that people will want to read and engage with

  1. Scour the internet for the best articles on the topic you want to write about. I’m interested in writing & creativity. Similarly, your interest could be stock markets, startups, gardening, pet care or just anything under the sun.
Select a value-rich article, preferably written by someone who’s an expert in that niche. Read it and savour what it has to offer. Make sure you agree with the idea you’re writing about.
  2. Borrow the idea and give it your own shape. Share your original thoughts around it, share examples and personal experiences. Make it easy to read.
  3. Show it to the world. Share on medium, your own blog, share the link on relevant WhatsApp communities who can benefit

For example, I took inspiration from this article by David Perell. He talks about how taking inspiration from and imitating our favorite works leads us towards our original style.

I rewrote the same idea with my own thoughts. (You can read it here if you’re interested in writing and art)

The next time you get value from an article, rewrite it and pay it forward!

And in this age when the internet runs everything, if you keep doing that long enough, you will be rewarded multifold!
