I’m Starting the 100-Day Writing Challenge
Ready the tea
I love writing.
After spending months of self-loathing on this platform, I’ve had enough. I wake up daily thinking to myself, “Today, I’ll write”. But can’t get a single word down.
It’s time to change my writing habit (or rather, the lack of it).
Why I’m Doing This?
My current writing habit is just terrible.
Whenever I get a thought to write about and have the time to do so, my brain goes into overdrive. Once the article is edited and published, that’s the end of the writing, until another light bulb goes off in my brain.
This gap can be a couple of days or even months. No one knows.
Combined with procrastination, it’s a recipe for self-loathing.
For the last few months, I’ve been struggling with writing. I have tons of thoughts and topics I want to write about.
But I am unable to write them down.
As a result, I’ve been stationary. I’ve been going nowhere. So, my mind is full of thoughts eager to break out.
Doing this challenge will hopefully clarify my thoughts and help me become a better person and writer.
Another reason I’m doing this is to create a habit of writing consistently. As they say:
Practice makes Perfect
I don’t want to be a perfect writer (if such a thing exists). I just want to be a better one. Doing this challenge will provide me with ample opportunity to become one.
Since I joined Medium, I only wrote whenever I had a topic in mind and a bit of free time.
Otherwise, it would, sometimes, be days since I visited Medium.
That’s another thing I want to change: make time for writing. I easily get distracted by social media and end up wasting my time and then end up complaining about it.
Lastly, my friends consider me a writer ever since I told them I joined Medium, so there’s that added pressure, as well.
Hopefully, by the end of the challenge, all these problems will be resolved, or at least, reduced.
What I’ll be writing about:
- Everything I know about tech and sports
- Random experiences and thoughts
- Occasional rant about life
I will publish my first article on December 1, 2023.
I am looking forward to the challenge, to becoming a better person and writer, and to any challenges that lie ahead.
