Instead of Prioritizing Your Time, Prioritize This Instead
There’s a lot of pressure on us to make the most of the time that we have. Every single body of life that situates itself on Earth is subject to the same minutes on the clock, or days on the calendar. Where you end up in life depends on how you use the 24 hours that you and everyone else, is confined inside of.
It’s an overwhelming notion that we could be wasting the short amount of time that we are supplied with. What constitutes a waste of time? Maybe you find yourself sleeping in too often. Maybe you keep pushing back a project you’ve been meaning to get done for a while now. Maybe you find yourself not feeling like doing anything.
In order for us to make proper use of our time, we need to prioritize our energy. We need our body and mind to be performing at optimal energy levels to get our work done and operate in a positive state.
People that prioritize their energy can get six months of work done in six weeks. This can compound into years of expertise over others who do not prioritize their energy levels.
Here’s how you can get started:
- Nutrition: Eating foods that are energy-rich is paramount in optimizing your everyday functions. This includes a variety of fruits, nuts, vegetables, and certain meats like fish. Avoid anything sugary that causes you to feel tired after ingesting. Vary your use of caffeine. Although coffee can energize you immediately, soon enough it will make you crash later in the day.
- Exercise: Get the blood pumping through your body with a good workout. It is best to do these in the mornings as a way to set your whole day up. It doesn't have to be anything too strenuous, just do some push-ups, go for a walk, or go for a bike ride. Find something that you enjoy doing that is physical, and enjoy the endorphin rush after the activity.
- Sleep: It is important to get the right amount of sleep. This could be different for everyone and requires individual experimentation. You might be the type of person that runs fine on 6 hours of sleep or you might really need to get 9 hours in. You hear a lot about famous people who don’t spend much time asleep in order to get an edge on their competition. But it is better to get the right amount of sleep than to spend your entire day tired and unfocused.
- Limit Phone Use: The screens that our eyes become glued to, give off blue light that tricks our brains into believing that it’s daytime, even when it is actually nighttime. This will throw off your brain chemistry and interrupt your sleep periods. Not only that, but having a phone around you will steal your brain’s focus when you are trying to commit to something else that is actually important. Having your phone close to you takes away energy as it is sort of like multitasking. Your attention is split between your phone and the task at hand.
There’s so much more that you can get done if you adhere to energy optimization. Soon enough you’ll be the capitalistic workhorse that you’ve always dreamed of being.
