Is fetus a parasite; surrogacy complicates the issue.

Fortunately, surrogacies stayed under the radar for ‘pro-life’ and ‘pro-choice’ people, but this process really has the content to heat up the controversy.

The “fetus as a parasite” hypothesis illustrates on the biological equivalence between the developing fetus and a parasite, given the fetus’s obligatory dependence on the mother for sustenance and protection. Yes, scientific findings sometimes tend to challenge moral and ethical standards, but they should never be considered without their context.

In the case of fetus- parasite debate, it is clear that this concept cannot be vaguely extrapolated to dehumanize maternal fetal bonding. A fetus is not a parasite in conventional terminology. This should be as clear as ‘we are not monkey’. There is scientific evidence in both cases…
