The question of whether Pele is the greatest of all time in soccer is interesting.
Pele’s Career
Pele, one of the greatest soccer players of all time, had a fantastic career. Pele first became known in Brazil at a young age, making his professional debut for Santos Football Club at just 15 years old.
In 1956, Pele led Santos to their first major trophy and scored more than 100 goals in the following season. His impressive scoring feats quickly made him a household name, and he soon became a key figure for Brazil’s national team.
At just 17 years old, Pele led Brazil to their first-ever World Cup victory in 1958 and was named tournament MVP.
He would be crowned Athlete of the Century by FIFA, becoming one of only two people in history to have earned that distinction (the other being Muhammad Ali).
However, some argue that other players should also be considered for this title. The likes of Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and others have made their mark in the game over the years. Some may even consider them greater than Pele, depending on their criteria to measure greatness.
