It’s a Mad, Mad World
Random lines of pondering
I’d rather go my own way and suffer than follow others.
It’s a mad, mad world.
I laugh because the whole world seems a big joke to me.
I cry because of a lack of shoulder to cry on and my inability to ask for one.
I laugh again seeing myself cry over trivial things that I can’t help.
It’s a mad, mad world.
But who is strong enough to beat the slap of reality!
Is there a warm enough cloak to protect us from tragedy?
We envy those better than us,
And pity those worse than us,
Fully knowing both actions are criminal.
It’s a mad, mad, world.
They want me to pursue my dreams fearlessly,
But don’t support me a bit on in the process,
And instead laugh when I fall.
It’s a mad, mad, world.
Some of us are lucky to have the kind of problems we have,
And some of us are more fortunate than others.
Yet, it’s our birthright to complain.
It’s a mad, mad, world.
