  1. Don’t write if you feel you are doing it to finish the post/blog rather than what needs to be said. You may feel ‘they will never know,’ but they always do.
  2. Don’t write to impress the readers. Treat them not as your sweetheart but as your spouse — there’s no need to put on a show. Just be who you are.
  3. Don’t blindly follow the productivity rules — the 5 a.m., the frog-eating, the pomegranate (I know I wrote that). Define your own rules and pick only what works best for you.
  4. Don’t write to prove something to yourself. Let it not be a tool to validate your skill or intelligence. It’s the worst chain you can tie yourself to.
  5. Don’t write to hear yourself talk. Like how you love to hear your voice on a mic. Writing isn’t about self-indulgence; it’s about purpose. Make it count.
  6. Don’t say — I’m not jealous of other writers. God knows you are. We all are. But let it not cripple you. Copy them, learn from them, collaborate, get inspired, challenge them…& if they disturb you much…no, don’t kill them…block them. But keep writing.
  7. Don’t hate your demons — doubts, fear, mental blocks…you know the gang. Instead, listen to them. They are hinting at exactly what you need…
