Two events happened yesterday that indicate that Justin Trudeau’s days as Canada’s Prime Minister are over. The writing has been on the wall for months now, but surely, his announcement will be coming soon. One of the events sent shockwaves through the political establishment, while the other was added proof that the man must go.

1. Chrystia Freeland resigns.

Justin Trudeau had two of his cabinet announce that they would be stepping down. Sean Fraser, Canada’s Housing Minister, resigned and will not run in the next election. We all knew that he was going to make this announcement so it was no surprise.

However, Krystia Freeland, Canada’s now ex-Finance Minister, upended him and shocked the country with her declaration. She was scheduled to give a fall economic statement but she had other plans in mind. Krystia posted her resignation letter to X for all to see.

It was scathing and revealing. She disagreed with Trudeau’s gimmicky tactics of tax breaks for a couple of months and cheques for some. She was fired from Finance and offered a lesser portfolio, which she turned down. This added to the bombshell nature of the resignation.
