Here’s a secret about me — I’ve always wanted to write books.

Fiction, specifically.

Writing non-fiction articles is, and always has been, a means to develop as a writer. As much as I wanted to blossom into an award-winning, best-selling author as soon as I possibly could, I recognized one thing very quickly.

I needed to learn how to write.

So, after 5 years and 500+ articles, I feel like it’s the perfect time to begin writing the next chapter of my life. Literally and figuratively.

Here’s how I’ve started writing my first book with zero experience. And how you can too — with a few small mental tweaks.

Nike said it best.

There’s a great quote from one of my favorite books, “The War of Art”, by Steven Pressfield.

It goes,

“Rule of thumb: the more important a call or action is to our soul’s evolution, the more Resistance we feel toward pursuing it.”

Amongst many great gems, this quote stuck out to me, as I’ve always resisted doing the things I really care about in life.
