Born 08/11/1960 in California. He struggled in school. After high school, studied filmmaking at CSU in Long Beach.
Later he moved to LA, where he wrote a script called “Three Thousand,” which Touchstone Pictures purchased, and changed the title to Pretty Woman that became one of the most successful romantic comedies of all times.
He wrote and produced Under Siege and the sequel Under Siege 2: Dark Territory. In 1992 Lawton co-wrote Mistress, produced by De Niro’s Tribeca Productions company.
Other projects were, Blankman, The Hunted, Chain Reaction, an action thriller with Morgan Freeman. DOA: Dead or Alive, and Jackson, which he also directed. For television, V.I.P., starring Pamela Anderson.
His severe Dyslexia made school difficult, but Lawton worked hard to overcome this obstacle, crediting his father for the support.
