Just Become Selfish Because No One Cares

Being selfless is a noble act, they say.

Are you selfless?
Well, I’ve learned to care less.
When I gave my all, when I dared,
The truth hit hard — no one cared.

I held on tight, to values and grace,
But found myself lost, out of place.
I poured out kindness, stayed so pure,
Yet silence told me — nothing’s sure.

I stood for others, gave them my light,
But shadows consumed all my fight.
Now it’s time I turn away,
From the ones who led me astray.

I’ll guard my heart, I’ll guard my mind,
No longer bound, no longer blind.
I’ll rise, evolve, grow and succeed,
No longer tending to others’ need.

Selfishness isn’t a curse, it’s a shield,
To the pain the world refused to yield.
I’ll thrive alone, I’ll chart my way,
Because no one cared, but that’s okay.

Now watch me soar beyond the sky,
No one can stop me, don’t ask why.
It’s my time now, to chase, to claim,
And carve for myself a lasting name.

Lately, I’ve started to realize that when push comes to shove, the entire world might just turn its back on you, especially when you need it the most. This isn’t just a fleeting thought — it’s the harsh truth I’ve learned through experience, and these experiences have shaped my perspective and prompted me to write this.
