Keeper of the Watch

“Spirit asks that we use discernment[…]”

a reptile with small eyes but looking carefully, either at its prey or predator

Spirit asks that we use discernment,
don’t jump in a fire hole and then exclaim about the third-degree burns,
keep watching,
be vigilant
protect your energy,
keep distance from the vampires that troll for blood;

Tempting you behind hidden fangs
telling you,
that they know what’s best for you and your interest is their interest,
while at the same time, drool dripping
as they click hungry tongues against chapped lips,
the delicious morsel they will make of your hips
and head, fingers, knees and toes;

Bit by bit
if you snooze you lose,
parts and pieces bubbling in their cauldron of sin,
with them looking at you, saying you walked right in
so stop complaining
and enjoy the burning;

I hear your faint cry as your head sinks beneath the soup,
arms reaching for the sky
your final hail mary,
will rescue come from on high;

Don’t let this be your fate,
keep watch — third eye watch,
