I recently noticed that Kevin McCarthy was the lead in Invasion of the Body Snatchers. This struck me as quite strange since the congressman was born in 1965, full nine years after the release of the classic sci-fi horror movie. The reasonable side of my brain says these are two different people with the same name but the more I thought about the premise of the movie the more it seemed these two people are one and the same.

The film tells the chilling tale of an alien invasion that begins in the fictional California town of Santa Mira. If Santa Mira was to exist it would surely be in CA District 23 represented in US Congress by Kevin McCarthy. Even if the location were farther north in CA District 22, McCarthy has represented that district as well.

As the story unfolds, we see alien plant spores from space grow into large seed pods that can replace a person with an identical copy except the clone does not support the Affordable Healthcare Act or any law requiring human emotion.
