I learned it hard way that Networking plays a vital role in achieving success

Because of strong network, some moderately skilled people achieve so much so early in life. No, they are not fortunate, they have good network. They always have a contact in their phone-book ready to help them, advise them, have fun with them, at all hours of the day.

Such people have someone who can get them into big companies, protect them from the police, get their kids into top-notch schools, get hospital beds during a hospital stay, and even get them a vaccination shot.

These are some of the common problems of an average person.

Now imagine how many problems a common business man or woman would have?

Is it possible for them to do and solve everything themselves? No.

Even our food-chain thrives on network between species and living organisms. None can survive alone. An extinction of any one in between disturbs the entire food chain. In simple words, organisms breath on such network as food-chain.

In fact, as explained in Sapiens by Yuval Harari, the one reason why sapiens only have grown and controlled life because of their ability to form groups, and network with people.

Our entire life is based on networks, then how can a business or a professional career be successful without good powerful network?

So, expand your network. Keep working in this direction. Don’t wait for people to come to you. Go talk and make friends. You may think that speaking for a motive is selfish.

But, there’s no reason to feel bad about it. Who knows, you might help someone too. So don’t load your mind with such thoughts and focus on how to have more connections.

Why People Fail to Build a Good Network

1) They shy away from talking to strangers.

2) They underestimate themselves.

3) Their principles don’t allow them to be selfish for their business and personal needs.

4) Their ego gets in the way.

5) They don’t know how to value and appreciate people.

6) They don’t want to accept help from others.

7) They are afraid that they will expose their weakness.

If you fall under any of these categories, then you need to flush out such thoughts.

Open your doors to everyone.

How Should You Expand your Network if You Suck at it?

1) Read good non-fiction books that preach to improve communication skills.

I recommend reading, “How to Win Friends and Influence People.”

Usually business people don’t have time to read books, but don’t worry, take this audible membership, and listen to books.

2) Criticize no one. Only give constructive criticism and guide people if you have the ability.

No one likes to be criticized, not even YOU.

3) Attend business events and interact with people. You are never considered a fool, even if you ask a foolish question to a prominent person.

4) Make personal connections with people outside the professional world. Allow them to enter your thought space. Show interest in their life, of course, if you like the person.

5) Always stay connected with people. Never wait for people to call, surprise them, and call first.

6) Try to help if you can, and ask for help as well.

I feel that asking for help is a better way to increase network, because people love to help. Asking for help validates people’s ability and identity. They feel respected, and in return they help you.

7) Always be with people in their sad moments.

People expect someone to talk with and express during unhappy moments. One doesn’t have to do anything, but just be there with the person. Even your presence gives power to people to overcome their grief.

For some, networking comes naturally, and for some it is tougher than climbing Everest.

No doubt, even your smart work is not enough. Agood network with smart work is the prime ingredient to achieve success in anything. Life here is not dependent on technology, internet, DIYs, but human-to-human connect. Networking promotes this human-to-human connect. If you want to be successful in life, keep developing your friend circle, do not lose touch with your childhood friends, and never miss an opportunity to talk with someone giving a positive vibe.

All The Best.

Go Network
