Why do leaders need external support?

Are you a social sector leader in need of support? Charities and social enterprises are currently facing multiple challenges and leaders are at risk of being increasingly isolated and burnt out. Often we can find ourselves constantly trying to find solutions to problems but with no one in the organisation that we can talk to confidentially, mainly because of our position.

Some leaders will admit privately to looking at exiting their organisation but cannot see how they will navigate this difficult road which often has the dual aims of leaving a personal legacy and a sustainable organisation after their time has finished.

Paradoxically, there is an increase in the range of leadership support available — but often this can be generic and web-based which lacks a personal connection but perhaps more importantly also lacks personal advice and direction. This is where a leadership mentor can add real value.

So what do I mean by leadership mentoring?
