Another day, another instance of a nonblack person using AAVE (African American Vernacular English).

A popular singer named Lizzo came under fire last month for her song called “Grrrls.”

The lyrics in the song said:

“Hold my bag bitch…Ima spaz.”

Apparently, “spaz” is considered a slur for disabled people in Europe. White people got on their soapboxes and attacked Lizzo on Twitter for using the word in her song.

Ugh…

I’m sick of this shit. I’m about to spaz (no pun intended).

Lizzo eventually apologized for using the word in her song and released a new version with updated lyrics.

If I were Lizzo, I wouldn’t have apologized for that.

Why?

Because non-black people need to mind their own business. Everyone wants to be down and use AAVE every damn day.

Everyone wants to be “lit” and “no cap” without realizing that these are not made-up words people came up with on the internet.
