Jet Blue plane taking off (computer generated)

My wife has developed this unique habit. As soon as we settle into a vacation spot she spends the second evening deciding where we will go next. Some of this is motivated by the realization that, for various complex reasons, we have airplane vouchers that will expire soon if we don’t use them. The other is that, for very obvious reasons, we have mobility skills that might also expire soon, so we had better use those while we can.

Because of her planning, in two days we will board a jet plane and fly to Las Vegas. We have never been to Las Vegas. The last time we flew somewhere it was to Atlanta to take a civil rights tour, so Las Vegas will be a different cultural experience.

The real reason we are going to Vegas is because it is the closest airport to the natural wonders of Brice and Zion National Parks. We have been to many national parks, from Yosemite, CA to Lowell, MA, and we have enjoyed them all. The National Park Service is one of the strengths of America.

They are well preserved, and the rangers are always so willing to help, explain, and teach everyone, while still protecting the history and environment of dramatically different places. We want to see more of them now because if Trump gets elected…
