Lifeboat
You’re my lifeboat.
When life’s river gets rocky
And menacing storms
threaten to derail me,
Your mere existence
calms my soul.
Sometimes I sit by the banks
Gazing at you on a sunny day
And my heart swells with gratitude.
I feel safe
Because of the promises you made:
Promises to protect me,
Promises to be there,
Promises to carry me
When I could not find my footing,
Traversing the rocky shores of life.
You’re my lifeboat;
There’s no one else I need
As we journey through this world to the next.
