Listening To Your Intuition
Guidance from your personal advisor
I was leaving for work one day in a hurry when I felt the need to check my umbrella. I dismissed it immediately. It was a bright sunny summer morning and hadn’t rained for months. The weather app also showed a clear day. No way was I going to grab an umbrella and get more delayed. It didn’t tick enough boxes.
Come 5 pm, I left work, and it started pouring. I was just astonished. How could this be possible that the very same morning something in me knew the future? Despite all reasoning and predicting the weather, how did I know it would rain, and it actually did! Who spoke and told me this? Was it my sub-conscious that knew events ahead of time?
I considered this an exceptional case and moved on with my life. A few days later, again, while leaving for work, I was prompted to double-check my house keys. I dismissed this since I traveled with my husband and never needed it. That evening while I was packing up at work, he called me to say he was going out for dinner with his friends. I returned home by train.
Are you ready for this? I reached home only to be stranded at my front door without the keys! For the first time in my life, I didn’t have the keys on me, which were always in my bag. Yet I could have just listened to that inner voice and confirmed I had them. But I didn’t. Who was telling me to do all this? And most importantly, how did it know the future?
I began researching this and found many words that described this phenomenon. Here is my collection of it. The sixth sense is the most popular term for this. Telepathy is commonly used when you think of a friend, and they call you. Gut feelings make us say yes or no, quite instinctively. Synchronicity can be a separate book unto itself. Coincidences surprise us, but they are no mysteries. They are in fact, alignments. It’s a little bit of magic.
As I read more stories of others experiencing this inner voice, I began to feel and notice the inner voice's presence even more. My curiosity took me to a whole other level of exploration and experimentation. After years of chasing this voice and following its advice, I can tell you so much about intuition, what it is, and why it is talking to you and whispering in your ears. It is real. And no, you are not possessed!
WHAT is intuition?
Intuition is an inner form of communication received from higher dimensions of wisdom. It is a subtle form of vibration that can be experienced within oneself and is not sense organs based. It is felt in the inside world of energies and consciousness. It is neither thought nor emotion which are a part of our mind-conscious and sub-conscious. Think more like a download from a higher realm.
WHERE does it come from?
There are dimensions beyond human fluctuations that are a source of creation, love, and eternal joy. The higher self that we call the God, Universe, Paramatma, Source, etc. is connected to us. We are an extension of this source very much tied to it via an invisible umbilical cord, channels or grid-like system, white light, or any other connection that you can perceive. We come from it, are it, and speak to it all the time.
HOW does it share insights and guidance?
When we speak to this higher self, it is through our thoughts and emotions, which is an upload. When IT speaks to us, we call it intuition, which comes as a download. So we can know the difference between the thoughts and emotions within us versus the source’s message since both are interior, it comes in a subtle form of non-verbal prompt. It does not use language.
Once we receive this soft nudge, the brain converts it into a sense-based signal such as an image of the umbrella or calling up a friend to convert it into action. Many times, it can seem unrelated, such as giving you a sense of entering a shop.
Once you follow that clue, the next clue is waiting in the shop. In the cosmic plan, it lays our treasure hunts. It is not bound by space or time. It is one step behind them, where unmanifest is converting to the manifest in the form of the creative principle.
WHEN does it communicate?
Since we are a microcosm of it, we are communicating all the time. The all-pervading higher wisdom knows our innermost wishes. You can imagine the internet as well, where our mobile is one device connected to this vast web doing searches and getting results in return. Since this connection is always ON, we might get the prompt anytime. This can make you double-check if the door has been locked properly before going to bed, stop you from making a house purchase because it doesn’t feel right, or guide you to take another route realizing later you reached work faster due to it.
WHY does it share prompts?
Before we came into a physical body, GPS was installed inside us with joy as the destination. When we don’t follow our dreams, it will keep nagging us, so we can re-route to joy. When we miss a turn on the road, the GPS keeps re-routing us tirelessly. So does this. The inner voice is our GPS.
As life goes on, it keeps track of whether you are still on track for joy or not. This wisdom holds the highest absolute good for all, not the relative kind where one’s good is another’s harm. Whatever it prompts one to do, all involved parties will be re-directed to love.
WHO does it choose?
All of us are connected to it, from the criminal to the sage. The sage is only fully and completely absorbed listening to it, and a criminal refuses to hear it. While such uploads are taking place, being in the grid, we might get prompts to fulfill someone else’s wishes as well. You might end up smiling at someone who just lost his job because you were drawn to do that. Another time you suddenly wish to surprise your friend with soup. Reaching her home unannounced you realize she is not keeping well. While we receive for ourselves, we receive messages for others too, which must pass through us to them. In such a way, we are each other’s messengers.
Refusing to listen
We have one special power of free will by which we can refuse to hear it. We are taught to reason, use logic, believe in statistics and past experiences. Our education is not based on information acquired apart from the five senses because it's not tangible. Largely based on something that is observed, measured, or even seen, oftentimes, it may not be very convincing to follow it for newbies. We need more information, just the way I needed by checking the weather app. When we are self-absorbed, we fail to hear it because we are busy paying too much attention to thoughts and emotions inside. It is confusing since everything being interior, we can’t tell the difference whether it's intuition or mind chatter. Once that nudge disappears, and we get back to obsessive thinking, we missed that chance. Worry not, it will re-route again.
How to get started
Say a quick yes to small nudges. When you do that, the connection is more active in your awareness. Now more can come through the channel. As we learn to listen to them, we start to trust it more, open up, and receive guidance for more important matters because it is spot-on.
See what takes place. The most important thing to note — it’s a non-verbal vibrational cue. It will not use words, and we must take action when it whispers to us because it's a real-time system. There is no point in checking the umbrella after two days. If calling a friend is something you keep feeling inside, there is a reason for it. It can even warn you of danger.
If the prompt wasn’t clear, you could simply say — “Give me more signs, loud and clear.” It will do that. Whatever you need and wish for, that you are asking from this world, is delivered by that creative principle, through the people and circumstances. Keep being joyful, the universe loves being playful with you. If you are not joyful today, re-routing needs to take place. Unmute your GPS.
Once you get the hang of it, you will come to realize it is talking to you all the time. You will be in complete awe of it. Life will begin to have a different sacredness altogether. Loneliness will disappear. You will be rooted in trust and love, not the fluctuations of the outer world. Moment to moment, the universe has your back. It always does. All you are doing is improving your knowledge of it.
