Living a little

“Live a little,” is what most of my friends tell me on Fridays when they go out partying and I’m left at home doing the classic, Netflix and chill. They find me a little weird. But let’s be honest, the idea of pounding the pavement at clubs every Friday night doesn’t exactly set my soul on fire. Don’t get me wrong, my friends have a blast, and there’s nothing wrong with letting loose sometimes.

On the other hand, sleeping in and enjoying a home cooked meal, isn’t exactly for me. It feels, well, a little uninspired, but it’s the only option, since my bank account doesn’t correspond to what my idea of living a little entails. Booking flights, travelling, immersing myself in new cultures, creating memories that go far beyond partying in a local club or a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Here are some places I dream of exploring, near and far:

1. Maldives

Nowhere sparks my wanderlust quite like the Maldives. Crystal-clear waters lap the shores of these idyllic islands, and the chance to stay in an ocean hotel takes relaxation to a whole new level. Imagine waking up to the sound of waves, stepping out onto your private deck for a sunrise swim, or simply gazing out at the endless turquoise horizon from your luxurious overwater bungalow.

2. Norway/Iceland

Iceland’s dramatic landscapes and legendary Northern Lights have always held a special place in my travel dreams. I imagine myself cozying up in a secluded cabin after a day of exploring glaciers and volcanic craters. Then, as night falls, stepping outside to witness a celestial ballet unfold across the inky sky.

3. Manchester, England

There’s something about football that makes me feel alive. Manchester, the heart of English football, thrums with passion, especially for Manchester United. I dream of catching a game at the legendary Old Trafford stadium, feeling the electric atmosphere as the crowd roars for their heroes. Beyond the match, I’d love to explore the Manchester United Museum, and maybe meet Kobbie Mainoo and become friends with him y.k. I may sound crazy at the moment but still…

5. Jamaica

This vibrant island nación (nation) pulses with the infectious rhythm of reggae music. Imagine yourself swaying to the beat on a pristine beach, the warm Caribbean sun on your skin, and the turquoise water beckoning for a swim. Beyond the beach bliss, Jamaica offers a rich cultural tapestry to explore.

There’s a lot more places that I’d like to explore, but these may be the first, and also I’m realizing that I’m kind of a beach girl, which is so ironic because I’m a Leo. Oh anyway, Perhaps my version of “living a little” isn’t for everyone. But for those out there who crave adventure and yearn to break free from the routine, I say this: pack a bag, book a flight (even if it’s just a short one!), and go explore. You might be surprised by what you find, not just about the world, but about yourself. As for me, I’ll wait till my bank account balance allows me to travel.

Thank you for reading, please share in the comments below, what’s your idea of living a little.

xoxo
