I woke up with high aspirations of getting a million things done today. I went fishing instead. After ten days in Hawaii, I have many small projects and chores to accomplish. Carpe diem, I went fishing.

They say a rolling stone gathers no moss; today was a day of moss and men. We caught a fish, but it was too small to take home. The moss was more exciting.

We started at the ocean and moved on to the lakes. The fish were not biting in either location, but I enjoy nature; therefore, I enjoyed the day.

The moss gathered its stones close while the men played man. What does this mean? There is something to be said about the fundamentals of man and fish.

Hunting and gathering ended thousands of years ago, but when the man enters the wilds of Alaska with a fishing pole in hand, it is back to basics. The drive to hunt, gather dinner and provide the most basic needs of mankind brings out the men in men.

Getting back to basics and immersing yourself in nature is something every human being should do in their lifetime. Whether it is a camping trip, stargazing, or fishing in…
