Born Earvin Johnson on 08/14/1959 in Michigan. After 36 points, 16 rebounds, and 16 assists in a single game, won the nickname “Magic”.

Playing as a point guard, Michigan University, won the Big Ten Conference title.

Later played for the LA Lakers and won the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player award.

In 1991, Johnson retired from the Lakers, and revealed he had HIV, contracted through unprotected sex, helping raise awareness, and established the Magic Johnson Foundation.

Johnson played in 1992 Barcelona, as part of the “Dream Team” winning the gold medal.

He retired due to fear from other players about playing with an HIV-positive competitor.

He published three books and works on television as a sports commentator.
