Resource overallocation is when a resource is assigned too much work to complete within the available time. (1)

Resources are the most significant investment of any business. (2) Resources are what you need to get any work done (i.e., people, tools, and capital.) All kinds of work will always need resources, and resources are limited. Resources, when poorly managed, are over-allocated. Poor resource management can affect stress levels and employee morale, resulting in a lower standard of work. (3)

This is an important problem that shouldn’t be neglected, and it reflects the health of your project, team, or business. It would be best to avoid overallocation pitfalls by addressing the resource overallocation aspect before it affects everything. Resource overallocation is most likely to occur when there are multiple projects in a company and might present a risk, especially if your resources are small and involved in multiple tasks. Planning your resource allocation is a key aspect in keeping your project on track and on budget with the outcomes you expect. (1)

As we stated before, overallocation will impact everything and will result in:
- Higher Stress levels;
- Fatigue;
- Burnout;
- More mistakes;
- Lack of enthusiasm and ownership;
- Missing deadlines;
- Lack of collaboration and engagement;
- Overlapping priorities;
- Decreased productivity;
- Inflexibility;
