Stakeholder identification is the process used to identify all stakeholders involved in a project. (1) Not doing your due diligence on this area will open an incredible can of worms.
A project stakeholder is an individual, department, or organization that may be affected by the results of a project or affect how the project is carried out. (2)
Lack of stakeholder identification is one of the main reasons for projects to fail. Projects will be negatively affected because, without thorough stakeholder identification, key stakeholders’ requirements and goals may not be identified and documented. (3)
