Having hit a low monthly income of just $29 last month I was feeling despair at the recent round of changes that are going on back in the Medium programming department. It felt like the system algorithms had been tweaked to cap my reads and earnings. For this reason, I started a new site on Substack and launched two of my own sites with monetisation capability.
Lo and behold, it seems that Medium has retweaked the system to favour me once again, or perhaps it was just a fluke, or I wrote better stories. It’s difficult to say. Whatever, my statistics have improved with my daily reads now between 250–300. My income soared to triple figures too, hitting $103! So perhaps there is hope for Medium yet. It is certainly a welcome increase just when it’s needed.
My three monetised sites; Substack, The Opus Connection on Ghost, and Enjoy Reading on Beehiiv, combined have only produced one single paid subscriber. That $103 is equal to 20 paid subscribers, which I would be delighted with.
Of course, I am confident that those other sites will come good in time. But until they do, Medium rising gives me hope for the future and a much-needed boost for the present.
