Meet Karen Goldfarb — Film Director
Karen is also a seasoned journalist and inspiring writer on Medium.
Dear Friends of Medium, in this story, I want to introduce another new writer on Medium, who is not new to writing. Let’s meet Karen Goldfarb. Karen and I have a lot in common, especially since we work in the same industry and have similar writing aspirations. I hope you will enjoy my introduction.
Karen grew up in the 1960s and 1970s in the Not-So-Wild suburbs of New Jersey, where she fell in love with all things Movie. Her obsession was with the Million Dollar movie, which she watched every day after school.
It was there that she fell in love with all the great films of the Golden Era of Hollywood, especially anything with Natalie Wood. She idolized her, especially in Gypsy and Splendor in the Grass.
Later, she discovered other wonderful films of that era, such as “Casablanca,” “Now Voyager,” and “Gone With the Wind.”
One of her most vivid memories is seeing GWTW at a mall in NJ when she was about 11 or 12. It was the first time she experienced a feeling of real grief over the troubles of Miss Scarlett O’Hara and all the rest in that film.
Of course, now she knows the film is seen as politically incorrect, but she still thinks it’s a great love…
