Influencer boxing is one of the wildest and wackiest phenomenons of the 21st century — marking a distinctive cultural shift.

At a time when the world is leaning toward acceptance and inclusivity, a growing pocket of the internet yearns for good old-fashioned violence.

A throwback to simpler times. When scores were settled with balled-up fists — not Twitter fingers.

With the rise in popularity of combat sports, comes a resurgence of celebrity-style influencer boxing matches.

This weekend, YouTuber turned boxer, Jake Paul, is set to box one of the all-time greatest combat sports athletes, Anderson Silva, in an 8-round professional boxing match.

Although the world likely won’t explode if the 25-year-old Ohio-born Jake Paul bests the 47-year-old Brazilian legend, the internet just might.

Jake Paul is leading the charge in influencer boxing. But, he’s not responsible for its resurgence. Nor, it’s potential to rival professional boxing as a cultural mainstay.
