And a vulnerable sharing from my own life

Michael Singer is a brilliant man and perhaps the richest hippy ever to have lived.

What I love most about him is that his message is extremely simple.

“One of the most amazing things you will ever realize is that the moment in front of you is not bothering you – you are bothering yourself about the moment in front of you. It’s not personal – you are making it personal.”

And:

“The most important thing to learn is how to be okay with reality … The truth is, everything will be okay as soon as you are okay with everything.”

This year, I learned exactly what he meant first-hand.

The act of surrendering

Earlier this year, my girlfriend was diagnosed with a chronic illness that required surgery.

My initial impulse was to rush in and fix the “problem.” However, my girlfriend moves at a much slower pace. She wanted time even though the medical world was telling her she didn’t have much.

It was scary but I supported her wish with all of my heart.

There was nothing I could do except be present with how I was feeling and serve her needs.
