Sleepless nights run into morning
Restless spirit
Mourning soul

Consciousness awakening
In battle-worn minds and bodies
I want to say and do more
See less hurt, harm, and terror

I wish I turn the clock back to the day or night before
Shield your body — tell you not to walk out the door
But my shelter & protection is no more

All I’m left with is heartache and memories
Justice is way too slow

So

Sleepless nights run into morning
Because my soul is in mourning
And my spirit will not rest

To all the mothers who lost their children to injustice and racism and the rest that pray every day that they don’t…

God Bless — May our children’s lives live on in our hearts and minds and the movement to FINALLY have liberty and justice and peace for ALL

This is dedicated to:

All the families who suffered a loss due to the gun violence in Buffalo, California, and Texas

Tamika Taylor, Mother of Breonna Taylor — March 13, 2020, police shot her 8 times when they entered her home with a “no knock” warrant

Constance Malcolm, Mother of Ramarley Graham — 2012 police followed the teen home and shot him in front of his 6-year-old brother

Valarie Bell, Mother of Sean Bell — 2006 Shot 50 times by police before his wedding

Kadiatou Diallo, Mother of Amadou Diallo — 1999 Shot Times 41 times by police
