How limited we have made ourselves

How shallow our blood runs

Repeated like a mantra that

it’s people, not their guns.

It’s baffling to see another man down in the road

Homicide recorded on the books in simple code.

The failure is systemic and it isn’t black or white.

The seed of ill dividing us also set up the fight.

Distracting with indignity, the wretched, violent few.
