Why do you do it?
Is it for shallow gains
Or
Is it out of necessity?
The knife inching closer and closer
To the core of your being
And you don’t stop
Instead
You push it deeper, twisting it so
You seek the sweet nectar of agony
But is it for your own consumption?
Slowly depleting the source, then what?
Will you wither, or will you rise
Shed your shell, evolve
I have my doubts
I worry you seek legacy, a treacherous path
The journey nor the end will suffice
You will pick, peel, and plow until you’re barren
And for what, pride?
If it’s truly slow suicide you seek, Maximus
Then look in the mirror
Put down the pen.
