My A/B Testing Plan for Writing on These Two Platforms

I have been writing consistently for over a year now on Medium and other online publications.

However, I’ve been getting a lot of mixed reactions about several new opportunities on different platforms.

What I learned from the beginning is to write where there are eyes. For those who have taken my free course, I advocate for four platforms. Two of them are Medium and Substack. These platforms have ‘eyes’. But the rewards are different.

Almost everyone shares their take on why they prefer one over the other. However, I tend to get different responses every time from different writers. Furthermore, there are just as many advocators of Medium as there are for Substack.

Rather than rely on this reporting, I decided to start an A/B testing. I’ll do it for a whole year and share the monthly reports. It will be a journey in analyzing the two platforms in real-time from fairly similar grounds and starting points.

The plan is to use the same content on the two platforms and monitor the progress. I’ll do the statistical tests if the need arises and to minimize bias. I’ll also rely on you to pick these aspects our whenever I’m blind to them.

If there are alternative suggestions on the metrics to evaluate, you can let me know.

Let’s see how this goes.
