My Secret to Productivity? A Second Smartphone
It’s not as weird as it sounds
Typically, having two cell phones was reserved for ER doctors and people who had a secret second family.
But I’ve joined the double smartphone family, and I’m neither (but of course, that’s what I’d say if I were…so just trust me).
Here’s why I did it and why you might consider it as well.
Reason #1 Work Number
I know there are “burner phone” apps that can give you a second number, but they aren’t much more affordable than adding a line to your account.
Being able to tell “this is definitely a work call” is awesome, but also…
Reason #2 Work Disconnect Time
You shouldn’t have to worry about work calls when spending time with your family or friends off the clock.
You might think, "Just ignore them; it’s not that hard,” but I assure you, for many of us, it is.
Yes, you could create settings that send these straight to voicemail, but a second phone can literally be turned off or left at your office if you have one.
Making it impossible to fall for the sirens call of a work-related contact.
