I’m always looking for different techniques to maximize my productivity. Naturally, I have tried many different things, and in this article, I’ll be sharing with you the best productivity hacks that I have found helpful.

Deep Work

I respect your precious time, so I’m giving you the technique that has been the most helpful for me. At its best, deep work can double your speed of work!

To put it simply. Deep work is the practice of working without any distractions. You should eliminate anything you’re not directly using for your work. For example, I always turn my phone’s notifications off and close any tabs I don’t use on the computer.

I recommend you not take any breaks during this time since even a short coffee break can seriously hinder your work efficiency. Instead, you could set a timer for how long you’ll work beforehand, and after you have completed the session, you can have your break. You can stack multiple work sessions this way.

Nowadays, most people struggle when starting out with deep work since our attention spans have gone down from constant stimulation. I found it hard when I first started. But now that I’m used to deep work, I am beginning to enjoy it. This technique has boosted my productivity way ahead of my past self because I find it much easier to utilize my whole brain for the task at hand.

The term “deep work”, was popularized by Cal Newport in his book “Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World." I am a big fan of his works because they have seriously aided me. And I can confidently recommend them to you.

Set a Daily Goal

This is a technique that might not prove useful in your day job, but if you’re a student or have been working on a side hustle, you will find it helpful.

The technique is simple, you just set yourself a daily amount of work that you must do, with no excuses! I use this to study for my exams, and recently I have started to write to medium for an hour every evening.

This method requires some discipline to get started. But it will get easier as you stick to it! If you get lazy and don’t achieve your goal for a couple of days, It will be hard to get back on track. You shouldn’t stress it too much, though. It’s fine to skip some days for a good reason.

I find it useful to keep a habit tracker. You can use paper or an app on your phone, it doesn’t matter. Just track your progress on the habits you desire to do daily.

Keep in mind, that consistency is key. With consistency, you will achieve what you once thought was impossible. Try to be a bit better every single day, and in a year you will notice massive gains!

Find Your Why

In today’s world, I believe it is important for everyone to have something they’re working for. Otherwise, it is easy to spend your whole life without doing anything meaningful.

You should have goals for which you don’t mind doing something uncomfortable. You could want to retire your parents or buy a fancy car, it doesn’t really matter in the long run. Just have something that keeps you going.

For me, my why is to buy a big piece of land and start a homestead and a family with my future wife. This is an ambitious goal, but I know that I will achieve it through hard and smart work.

Conclusion

These are the main ways I stay as productive as I can. There might be better methods out there that I haven’t found yet, but these methods have been proven by me and many others. I am very grateful that you read to the end!
