Is Sweet Tooth about Racism and Ableism?

A virus has hit the planet and, simultaneously, hybrid children, who are both human and animal, are born.

My housemates and visitor finished binge-watching the Netflix series “Sweet Tooth.”

We were enthralled by the show. Although I didn’t think of them at the time, these now obvious realizations about the show entered my awareness.

First, a quick recap of the 8-episode series. There are spoilers in here, so read at your own risk.

When the deadly pandemic hits, many babies were born human-animal hybrids to the horror of their parents… and the rest of the world.

Sweet Tooth is the nickname for a boy who is a human-deer hybrid. As you watch the series, you’ll learn where he came from and his role in the pandemic.

I’m sure you can figure out the themes of the story.

1. The virus was extremely contagious and deadly.
