No article should be left outside a list

Why are lists important, and why should you use them

Lists are Medium’s way to group content. This can be private or public, depending on how you choose it to be. For good SEO and discoverability, I think it is essential for you to start public lists and “categorize” your content into those lists.

The thing is that while doing so, you add to your five tags per article a general context(the list) and thus make the entire content more visible to search engines and even Medium’s search mechanism.

Short disclaimer - I don’t know in detail how the Medium search works, but from my experiments and knowledge of SEO and web search, this is the case.

Besides the improvement in SEO and discoverability, lists offer you the possibility to find your content faster and share it with your audience if needed, and internal or external backlinks to it.

Here are my lists so far, and all my articles are grouped in one of them (even if there is only one article in some of them):

Think about it and give it a try :) Also, please let me know if and how you are using your lists, and share yours! I would love to see how you are doing things.
