“Nostalgia is a file that removes the rough edges from the good old days.”

— Doug Larson

Little do I know of myself when I was younger,
A longing for moments that once brightly shined,
Every single second was extraordinary,
Every single time I woke up — feeling so alive,

Before everything was so much fun,
When I was younger, I used to wish to grow faster,
Yet, I am here at my older self,
Where I find everything pretty hard,

The life of adulthood is so heavy,
The smiles have faded,
The laughter has fled,
Maybe growing up was not that fun,

All I could say, I wish I could go back in time,
Where curiosity led me on my way,
Unfazed by judgments, unbound, and bold
Where I could do what I wanted to,

Free from the weight of a grown-up life,
Yet, have I truly grown, or merely aged?
But all I could wish for now is nothing more than to return,
Without the worries and expectations,

I wish I could feel it once more,
A sense of missing out lingers, yearning for just a few more minutes,
My youth has already been gone for so long,
Replaced with constant strife

I know myself in so much detail,
The more I know, the harder it seems,
I am left feeling lost and scared,
My awareness leaves me feeling so blue.

The world was full of hopes that never met,
Where a world is full of shattered dreams,
The realization that time is irreversible,
For life is short, and time is a thief that we could never defeat.

Thanks For Reading
