Nuclear weapons have developed a sense of serious threat to our community. The expansion of nuclear weapons is not only daunting but can cause serious chaos for upcoming generations.

Nuclear proliferation has been a serious threat to humanity, especially after World War 2. During World War 2, the Allied forces were afraid when the German government made contact with Professor Werner Karl Heisenberg. So the US government assigned a confidential project for nuclear weapons and named it the Manhattan Project. The estimated cost of the Manhattan Project during World War 2 was $2 billion.

“Our commitment to the next generations is to bring heaven on earth, and not nuclear annihilation. There is still hope, we must act before time slips.”
Amit Ray, Nuclear Weapons Free World — Peace on the Earth

Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

The only intentional use of atomic weapons was used by US President Harry S. Truman. The Japanese Emperor Shōwa was not agreeing with the US policy of unconditional surrender. The invasion of Japan by ground forces can cost many American lives. The bombing of Japan led to mass destruction and the death toll reached 199,000 and 90% of them were civilians. These people have nothing to do with the Japanese government and their emperor.

“Check your environment and be sure that it is supportive. Some environments do not support progress. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are not fertile lands for a farmer’s dream seeds. Change location.”
Israelmore Ayivor, Shaping the dream

Unscrupulous Race of Nukes

Soon after the war World War 2, every country started to build its nuclear weapons. The evil race of nukes only costs billions of dollars. The formation of the United Nations made it hard for any country to develop nuclear weapons thereafter. During the meeting, the United Nations created the United Nations Atomic Energy Commission to block the productivity of nuclear warheads. The Soviet Union disagreed with the project and rejected it on the spot.

The Soviets and Americans are not the only countries involved in the unethical production of nukes the list also includes India, Pakistan, China, the United Kingdom, France, and later on North Korea. These all countries set the plants for the production of weapons of mass destruction. After the successful production of nukes, Russia became the second nuclear power on August 29, 1949. Later on, the United Kingdom, France, and China joined the elite group of weapons of mass destruction.

India first tested its nuclear weapons in Pokhran, Rajasthan in 1974. The Pakistani authorities handed over the confidential project to Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan. So Pakistan became a nuclear power during the successful test of nukes in Ras Koh Hills, Balochistan. The accusations lie on renowned Pakistani scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan who sold the formulae to Iran and North Korea.

Role of International Organization

The United Nations, International Atomic Energy Agency, and Non-Proliferation Treaty on nuclear weapons are trying in every possible way to reduce the spread and production of nuclear weapons but still, 13,080 nukes are on our earth today and more than 2000 nuclear tests have been conducted to date.

The member states of the Non-Proliferation Treaty have reached 191. The only countries who have not joined NPT are holding nuclear weapons are India, Pakistan, Israel, and North Korea. The NPT is based on the three pillars.

1-non-proliferation,

2-disarmament, and

3-the right to peacefully use nuclear technology.

The IAEA was founded in 1957 fearing the unexpected spread and use of nuclear weapons. The International Atomic Energy Agency is generally based on three pillars.

Contemporary Situation

The current situation is that every country is investing huge amounts to develop weapons of mass destruction. The war in Ukraine will not only boost the morale of developed countries. This sort of situation will also insist that developing countries invest large rum sums of money to build nuclear weapons.

The Russian administration has been very harsh towards Ukraine. Only one mistake can set the whole world in a situation where the lives of civilian people will be tested. So it is premature to understand the effects and causes of nuclear weapons and take precautionary measures before they can set the whole earth on fire.
