On Dragons and Christmas Trees in Singapore
Dragons were creatures of myth, not merriment — until now.
Right in the middle of the busy mall stood a big, blue dragon.
It was hard to miss with its bright scales and the large, glowing ball it held in its hand. The light from the ball shone like a giant pearl, making the dragon look as if it had just stepped out of a fairy tale.
The dragon, with its wide, watchful eyes, seemed to be waiting for someone to notice the magic in the everyday rush.
People walked by, their shopping bags swinging, as he stood there forever — but he wasn’t.
Just a few days back, this spot wasn’t home to our big, blue dragon.
Instead, there were beautiful Christmas trees reaching up high, its branches decked out in shiny ornaments.
Underneath, gift boxes were piled up, wrapped in bright paper and bows. Tourists and shoppers gathered around, their smiles as wide as the tree was tall, capturing moments with their cameras.
The tree was the star of the show then, but now, it’s the dragon’s turn to shine.
From festive greens to mythical blues, from Christmas trees to dragons, left me to clueless as what to expect next.
