the sobering paradox of parenting

is that every single mistake

feels temporary

correctable

just another moment in time

like it doesn’t matter

yet when faced with high school graduation

marriage

or worse yet death

it’s clear that every single mistake

is not temporary

isn’t correctable

can’t be just another moment in time

does matter
