Philly’s Annual Spring Clean-Up is back on Saturday, April 6th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and it’s bigger and better than ever. April 2, 2024, Carlton Williams, Director of the Office of Clean and Green Initiatives stopped by Good Day Fox 29 with Mike and Alex and said 1,000 projects registered for the single-day clean-up event. Mr. Williams said this year’s Spring Clean-up had the most sign-ups in the 16-year history.

Mr. Williams brought a clip from last weekend’s Parkside Avenue cleanup. The City’s Streets, Police, and Sanitation Departments worked together to clear the wooded area. They removed trash, abandoned cars, and even a boat. He says this is just the beginning because Mayor Parker has dedicated $38 million to cleaning and maintaining residential neighborhoods and commercial corridors. This is a huge investment in improving the environment and quality of life for every resident, but it’s a collaborative effort.

We all have to do our part to keep Philly clean. While illegal dumping and abandoned cars are big environmental issues, everyday litter is a community issue with an easy fix — don’t throw trash in the streets. Trash belongs in a trash can not on the ground. I remember back in the day when my…
